Gas Fee Calculator: What USDT Network Fees Cost You as a Player

Quick answer

Enter the network fee your wallet or exchange shows for one USDT transfer, how many transfers you'll make and your deposit. The calculator gives the total fee, the fee as a share of your deposit, and how much wagering at a 1% house edge would cost the same. For Ethereum you can enter gas units × gas price × ETH price instead.

Key facts
Ethereum fee formulagas used × (base fee + priority fee)

This gas fee calculator shows what USDT network fees cost you before you deposit or withdraw. Enter the fee your wallet or exchange shows for one transfer, or, on Ethereum, the gas units, gas price and ETH price. It returns the total fee, the fee as a share of your deposit, and how much play at a given house edge costs the same.

Example values, not live prices. We don't track fees in real time: replace every number with what your wallet shows today.

Fee per transfer1.00 USDT
Total fees2.00 USDT
Fees as % of deposit2.00%
Wagering at a 1.00% edge that costs the same200.00 USDT

With the example values (1 USDT per transfer, a 100 USDT deposit, one deposit and one withdrawal), fees take 2% of the deposit. That's the same expected cost as wagering 200 USDT at a 1% house edge.

How this is calculated

If you enter the fee directly, the calculator multiplies it by the number of transfers. In Ethereum gas mode, it works the fee out first. ethereum.org defines the fee as the gas a transaction uses times the gas price, where the gas price is the base fee plus a priority fee (tip), quoted in gwei:

fee (USDT) = gas units × gas price (gwei) × 0.000000001 × ETH price (USDT)

1 gwei = 0.000000001 ETH. Then: total = fee × transfers, share of deposit = total ÷ deposit, break-even wagering = total ÷ house edge.

Worked example (example values, not live prices): 65,000 gas units, 5 gwei, ETH at 2,500 USDT, a 100 USDT deposit and 2 transfers.

  • Fee per transfer = 65,000 × 5 × 0.000000001 × 2,500 = 0.8125 USDT
  • Total for 2 transfers = 1.625 USDT
  • Share of a 100 USDT deposit = 1.625%
  • Break-even at a 1% edge = 1.625 ÷ 0.01 = 162.5 USDT of wagering

About the 65,000 gas default: this is our assumption so the calculator shows a result, not a sourced figure. ethereum.org gives 21,000 gas for a plain ETH transfer; a USDT transfer calls the token contract, so use the gas estimate your wallet displays instead. The base fee and tip change with demand, which is why we never quote them as current. Our ETH gas guide explains how to read the Etherscan gas tracker.

Where to find the fee for each network

USDT runs on several blockchains, including Ethereum, TRON and BNB Smart Chain, per Tether's list of supported protocols. Each charges fees differently:

  • Ethereum (ERC-20): fees are paid in ETH as gas. Check the Etherscan gas tracker for current gwei prices, then confirm against your wallet's preview. More in our USDT ERC-20 guide.
  • TRON (TRC-20): TRON uses Bandwidth and Energy. The TRON resource model gives each account 600 free Bandwidth per day but no free Energy; you stake TRX for resources or TRX is burned. Past transfers and their costs are visible on TRONSCAN. See our TRC-20 guide.
  • BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20): read the fee in your wallet before sending, and look up completed transfers on BscScan. Our USDT BEP-20 guide covers the setup.
  • Withdrawing from an exchange: enter the fee the exchange's withdrawal screen shows, since that's what leaves your balance.

Always send on the same network the receiving address uses. A fee calculator can't fix a transfer sent on the wrong chain.

Fees vs the house edge: which costs more?

The break-even figure turns a fee into the language of the games you play. Every game has a house edge, the average share of each bet the house keeps. Here's how much wagering would cost the same as 2 USDT of fees, using edges from our simulations and exact calculations:

Break-even wagering for 2 USDT of network fees
GameHouse edgeWagering that costs 2 USDT on average
Blackjack, basic strategy (6 decks, S17, DAS, 3:2)0.47%426 USDT
Crash or crypto dice at a 1% edge1.00%200 USDT
Baccarat, banker bet (8 decks)1.06%189 USDT
Roulette, single zero2.70%74 USDT
Roulette, double zero5.26%38 USDT

The lower the house edge, the more a fixed fee matters by comparison. On a low-edge game, a couple of transfers can cost as much as hundreds of USDT of play. Two practical takeaways:

  • Fewer, larger transfers spread a fixed fee over more money. Topping up five times costs five fees.
  • Fees count even when you win. A withdrawal fee comes out of your balance whatever happened at the table.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a USDT gas fee?

On Ethereum, the fee is the gas the transfer uses multiplied by the gas price (base fee plus priority fee), quoted in gwei, where 1 gwei is 0.000000001 ETH. Multiply by the ETH price to get USDT. On other networks, the easiest route is to read the fee your wallet or exchange shows before you confirm, and enter it here.

Why doesn't this calculator show live gas prices?

We don't have a live fee feed, and fees change from minute to minute with network demand. Any number we printed would be out of date. Check the Etherscan gas tracker for Ethereum, or the fee preview in your wallet or exchange, then enter that figure. The example values on this page are not live prices.

How many gas units does a USDT transfer use?

ethereum.org gives 21,000 gas for a plain ETH transfer. A USDT transfer calls a token contract, so check the estimate your wallet shows. Our default of 65,000 is a placeholder assumption so the calculator shows a result, not a sourced figure. Replace it with your wallet's number.

How do TRC-20 fees work?

TRON uses Bandwidth and Energy instead of gas. According to the TRON developer docs, each account gets 600 free Bandwidth a day but no free Energy. You either stake TRX to get these resources or the network burns TRX to cover them. Your wallet shows the resulting cost before you send.

What does break-even vs house edge mean?

It's the amount of wagering whose expected loss equals your network fees. At a 1% edge, each 100 USDT wagered costs 1 USDT on average, so 2 USDT of fees costs the same as 200 USDT of wagering. It shows whether fees or the game are the bigger cost of a session.
