Clix Explained: AI-Scored Peer-to-Peer Consumer Lending with Stablecoins

Quick answer
Clix is an early-stage marketplace where individuals lend to and borrow from other individuals across borders, paid in stablecoins, with AI used to score borrower risk. Unlike most crypto lending, borrowers don't need to lock up crypto as collateral. That makes it closer to traditional peer-to-peer lending, with the same big risk: borrowers can default.
| Type | Peer-to-peer consumer credit marketplace |
|---|---|
| Payments | Stablecoins |
| Risk scoring | AI-driven reputation and credit assessment |
| Collateral | Not required from borrowers (unlike DeFi lending) |
| Stage | Testnet / early launch, starting in Europe |
| Main risk | Borrower default and legal recovery across borders |
What is Clix trying to do?
Banks often charge borrowers high rates while paying savers little. Peer-to-peer lending cuts out the middle: savers lend directly to borrowers and keep more of the interest. Clix adds stablecoin payments for speed and global reach, and AI scoring to decide who gets credit and at what rate.
How it differs from DeFi lending
Protocols like Morpho or Aave require borrowers to post more crypto than they borrow, so lenders are protected by collateral. Clix lends to people based on their profile instead. That opens credit to people without crypto, but if a borrower stops paying, there's no collateral to sell automatically.
Lessons from earlier P2P lenders
P2P lending platforms in the 2010s showed that returns depend heavily on default rates, which rise sharply in recessions, and that recovering money across borders is slow and costly. Some platforms closed and lenders waited years for repayments. AI scoring may help, but it hasn't been tested through a full credit cycle here.
Questions to ask before lending
- What licence does the platform hold, and in which country?
- What happens if a borrower defaults: is there a recovery process or buyback guarantee?
- What are historic default rates, and how are they reported?
- Can you withdraw early, or is your money locked for the loan term?
- Who holds the stablecoins while loans are pending?
Main risks to know
- Borrower default with no automatic collateral.
- Cross-border debt recovery is slow and uncertain.
- AI scoring is unproven over a full credit cycle.
- Platform and regulatory risk for an early-stage service.
Frequently asked questions
What is Clix?
A peer-to-peer consumer lending marketplace using stablecoins and AI risk scoring.
Do Clix borrowers need crypto collateral?
No, which is the main difference from DeFi lending protocols.
Is lending on Clix safe?
All P2P lending carries default risk. Check licensing, recovery processes and reported default rates first.
