Dice games are some of the easiest casino games to calculate. Whether you're rolling two physical dice at a craps table or betting on a random number in a crypto dice game, the odds come from simple counting: favourable outcomes divided by total outcomes, as Britannica's guide to gambling odds puts it.
Our dice guides cover both families. Crypto dice lets you choose your own win chance and shows the payout on every bet. Craps uses two six-sided dice and a mix of bets with very different house edges. In both cases we give the exact numbers and check them with our own simulations.
Two kinds of dice game
Crypto dice (roll-under / roll-over). A random number from 0 to 100 is generated for each bet. You pick a target; if you bet "under 25", you win 25% of the time. The multiplier is set from your win chance, so the house keeps the same share at every target. In provably fair versions, the number comes from a hash of seeds you can verify afterwards, as one major operator's implementation notes describe.
Classic dice and craps. Two six-sided dice make 36 equally likely combinations. Totals near 7 can be made more ways, so they come up more often. Craps builds a whole table of bets on top of that distribution.
Dice odds: the key numbers
crypto dice multiplier = 99 ÷ win chance (at a 1% house edge)Example: win chance 20% → 99 ÷ 20 = 4.95x. Expected return = 20% × 4.95 = 99%.
| Crypto dice bet | Win chance | Multiplier (1% edge) |
|---|---|---|
| Roll under 10 | 10% | 9.9000x |
| Roll under 25 | 25% | 3.9600x |
| Roll under 50 | 50% | 1.9800x |
| Roll under 75 | 75% | 1.3200x |
| Roll under 90 | 90% | 1.1000x |
| Craps bet | House edge | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Odds bet | 0% | Wizard of Odds |
| Don't pass | 1.36% | Our exact calculation |
| Pass line | 1.41% | Our exact calculation |
| Place 6 or 8 | 1.52% | Wizard of Odds |
| Any seven | 16.67% | Wizard of Odds |
The pass line figures match the 1.41% and 1.36% published by the Wizard of Odds.
What our dice simulations show
We ran two sets of crypto dice simulations at a 1% house edge:
- RTP checks. 1,000,000 rolls at each of five targets. Observed return to player ranged from 98.98% to 99.06%, against a theoretical 99%. Over enough rolls the edge appears exactly as predicted, the long-run frequency idea covered in introductory statistics.
- Bankroll survival. 20,000 players per target, each starting with 100 USDT and betting 1 USDT per roll until they doubled, went bust or reached 10,000 bets.
The surprise for many players: the "safe" 90% target never doubled a bankroll in our simulation, and 57.28% of those players went bust. The volatile 10% target doubled 43.94% of the time. Same edge, very different sessions.

Playing dice games with crypto and USDT
Crypto dice shows its math on every bet: the win chance and multiplier are right there before you roll. Playing with USDT keeps your bankroll in dollar terms, so a good session isn't undone by a drop in the price of the coin you hold. Dice also encourages fast, repeated betting, so keep network deposit fees small relative to your bankroll; our USDT and payments guides compare networks.
If you enjoy dice, two related crypto games use the same transparent approach: crash games, where the chance of reaching a multiplier x is 99 ÷ x at a 1% edge, and Mines, where every tile pick has an exact probability. Set a budget before you start: every dice bet carries a house edge, and no system removes it.
Frequently asked questions
Which dice game has the best odds?
In craps, the odds bet behind pass or don't pass has no house edge, and pass and don't pass themselves cost 1.41% and 1.36%. Crypto dice at a 1% edge loses 1% of each bet at any target. Always check the edge a specific game states, because operators can set it differently.
How do crypto dice games work?
You choose a target and bet that a random number from 0 to 100 lands under (or over) it. Your win chance equals the target, and the payout multiplier is set from it. With a 1% house edge the multiplier is 99 divided by the win chance, so 50% pays 1.98x.
Are free dice games worth playing?
Free online dice games are a good way to learn targets, multipliers and how volatile each choice feels. They can't predict real results or prove a real-money game is fair. Use our dice odds calculator alongside them to see the exact numbers behind any bet.
Can you beat dice games with a strategy?
No. Each roll is independent and every bet carries its house edge. Betting systems change how your results are spread, not the average loss. In our 1-million-roll checks, crypto dice returned between 98.98% and 99.06% at every target we tested, matching the theoretical 99%.
